Inuvi has acquired Medicals Direct, a provider of medical evidence gathering and rehabilitation services for the UK and Ireland’s protection and annuity insurance markets.

Medicals Direct was founded in 1994 and and employs more than 40 people providing nurse and doctor-led health assessments, tele-interview, GP report collection, independent medical opinion, and rehabilitation services for UK and Ireland insurance companies.

Inuvi said the acquisition was “highly complementary” to its existing business as a nationwide provider of domiciliary health assessments, phlebotomy services and expert laboratory testing.

It continued that the deal would broaden its service proposition to include independent medical opinion and rehabilitation services.

As part of the acquisition, Inuvi inherits Medicals Direct’s existing network of independent health practitioners, significantly increasing capacity to provide health assessments and phlebotomy services across a broad range of sectors including protection insurance, health and wellbeing, occupational health, public sector health and social research, clinical trials, and primary care.

This latest acquisition is Inuvi’s third deal of the year following deals for Livesmart and Express Diagnostics Limited.

Jonathan Benton, CEO at Inuvi, said: “We are delighted to welcome Medicals Direct to the Inuvi Group.

“The acquisition of Medicals Direct is highly complementary to Inuvi’s existing business, enhancing our position as a leading nationwide provider of domiciliary health assessments, phlebotomy services and expert laboratory testing to a broad range of sectors including life and health insurance, health and wellbeing, occupational health, public sector health and social research, clinical trials, and primary care.”
