International insurance broker Howden has appointed Mike Baker as chief client officer of Howden Asia.

Based in Singapore, Baker reports to Goh Chye Huat, CEO, Howden Asia.

Baker’s role is to further develop Howden’s large client proposition in the region, focusing on servicing multinational companies and organisations with complex risk requirements across Asia.

Beginning his career in 1985, Baker previously worked internationally as both an underwriter and a broker, based in London, Sydney, and Singapore.

He joins Howden from Aon, where he was the strategic account manager for Asia.

Prior to that, he spent nine years at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) holding various senior roles including head of corporate, property and casualty and global client relationship manager.

Goh Chye Huat, CEO, Howden Asia, said: “Mike brings exceptional market knowledge and broking expertise, which, combined with his experience in developing and leading strategies for major corporates, will bring considerable value to our clients in Asia.

“This appointment demonstrates our ability to attract top talent while proactively responding to the needs of our clients.”

Baker added: “In times of ongoing volatility and uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to work together as an industry, for the benefit of our clients.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the talented team in Howden Asia and across the group, leveraging our collective power to provide innovative solutions for clients”.
