Aetna International has introduced locally compliant, supplemental benefits products for customers living in Oman and Qatar via partnerships with local insurance providers.
The firm said the move formed a part of its strategy to expand its global service delivery model while supporting expatriates for successful assignments and to deliver a better member and customer experience in the Middle East.
Having withdrawn from the rest of its global market in 2022, Aetna International only offers cover to globally mobile people and organisations originating from the US.
Qatar
In Qatar, Aetna International will work with local insurer Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Co (QGIRCO) and third-party administrator GlobeMed to offer locally compliant health benefits solutions.
The supplemental plan will deliver broad network access and 100% coverage with no deductible, no co-pay and no coinsurance.
The plan launches in anticipation of mandatory health insurance requirements from the Qatari Ministry of Public Health.
Oman
In Oman, Aetna International has announced an enhanced, locally compliant benefits solution for customers living there, building on its business relationship with global benefits provider Allianz Partners.
The Oman plans are designed to give a simplified healthcare experience, access to an expanded, direct-pay network and 100% benefits coverage with no deductible, no co-pay and no coinsurance.
Together with local insurer, Muscat Insurance Company and Allianz Partners’ local third-party administrator Nextcare Oman, the Oman plans offer members access to a healthcare network of more than 300 local providers.
Todd Lazar, president of Aetna International, said: “All of our global and regional partners understand and share our commitment to making the healthcare journey more accessible and less complicated.
“And furthermore, our customers continue to benefit from the same robust, centralised administration they’re used with their global plan.”
“By combining deep international expertise, strong provider networks and extensive local knowledge, we can deliver a better experience for our members while making sure they get the right care in the right place and time.”
Allianz partnership
Last year Aetna announced a partnership with Allianz Partners outside of the United States, as part of its global service delivery model and network capabilities.
The aim was for Aetna International to grow and strengthen its network operations and provider management in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia Pacific (APAC), while still maintaining full ownership of its customer and member experiences, the insurer said.
Lazar said: “This enhanced global service delivery model uniquely positions Aetna International for scale and sustainable long-term growth while simultaneously allowing us to continue to offer unrivalled access to healthcare around the world.”
Aetna International will kick off its enhanced global service delivery model with new and renewing customers with 1 April plan effective dates who have employees accessing care in Europe, EMEA and APAC.
