Bupa has launched the silver version of Bupa Well+, a ‘whole of workforce’ health and wellbeing subscription service, which allows large companies to give their employees digital health and wellbeing support via the Bupa Touch app.

Bupa Well+ is designed to enable employers to provide key health and wellbeing benefits to their entire workforce who are not covered by health insurance.

The digital service is focused on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Bronze, silver and gold

Currently, Bupa Well+ is available as a mid-tier Silver service focusing on workplace health and digital treatment for mental health and muscles, bones, and joints.

Bupa said it will also be launching an entry-level, Bronze, and higher-level, Gold, service in the coming year.

The preponderance of bronze, silver and gold levels of insurance products on the market was recently spoken about by Nick Potter, acting CEO and chief financial officer at Simplyhealth, who called for insurance companies to create more modular products, that would enable more customers to get onto the insurance ladder.

The current Silver version is available from £49.99 per person a year for companies with more than 10,000 subscribers.

Bupa said: “With an estimated 185 million working days lost to sickness or injury each year, Bupa Well+ will help more workers access key health and wellbeing services quickly via the one app.”

Customers will have access to digital consultations with GPs, nurses, physios, and mental health specialists, and access to treatment support from mental health and physio programs.

Mental health services

Bupa says that mental health services are some of the most widely used benefits, with counselling services (24%) and mental health apps (23%) being two of the top three most used health and wellbeing benefits by employees.

Customers will also be able to access preventative healthcare services, with 1,500 digital gym classes and wellbeing programmes available on the Bupa Touch app.

Alex Perry, CEO for Bupa UK Insurance, (pictured), said: “We know how important it is for employers and employees alike to be happy and motivated in the workplace, and how much health and wellbeing plays a part in that.

“We are on a mission to make healthcare more accessible and inclusive, and help more people access the support, diagnosis, and treatment they need quickly and easily by providing services all in one app.

“Some of the most common health challenges holding people back at work are musculoskeletal and mental health related, and these are a big part of the support provided by our new service.

“We hope Bupa Well+ will allow our corporate customers to provide more of their employees with these key benefits to lead healthier, happier lives.”
