Count Binface manifesto pledges to tie MP salaries to NHS nurses’ pay

Satirical candidate Count Binface, has stated in his manifesto that MPs should have their pay tied to the salaries of NHS nurses.

Binface identifies as an intergalactic space warrior and will be running for MP in Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s consitituency or Richmond, Yorkshire for the general election on 4 July .

Binface released his 24-point manifesto online today under the headline “Bloody Loyal to wherever I’m standing for election.”

The manifesto covers a wide range of areas, and touched on health.

In a proposal which is unlikely to receive much support from parliament, point 17 of the manifesto states: “Minsters’ pay to be tied to that of nurses for the next 100 years.”

According to the NHS: “The average nursing salary is between £33,000 and £35,000 a year. “

But it notes there are other benefits, and says that NHS employees enjoy one of the most generous pension schemes in England.

The average nurse’s salary is about a third of the average MP’s wage.

According to the UK Parliament: “The basic annual salary for an MP from 1 April 2024 is £91,346.”

But MPs also receive expenses to cover the costs of running an office, employing staff, having somewhere to live in London or their constituency, and travelling between Parliament and their constituency.

The first point on the manifesto was: “All water bosses to take a dip in British rivers, to see how they like it.”

Point two proposes: “National service to be introduced for all former prime ministers.”

Another proposal to his prospective constituents should build on his strengths as an intergalactic space warrior.

Point seven states: “Traffic on Northallerton high street to be fixed by a new space bridge, bypassing both level crossings.”

A second local promise is: “National Yorkshire pudding day to be a bank holiday (except for banks).”

And a third states: “The mini golf course at Richmond swimming pool to host the open championship.”

And in another very specific point, the manifesto states: “The hand dryer in the gents’ urinals at the Crown & Treaty, Uxbridge to be moved to a more sensible position.”

In his final point, Biniface stated: “Count Binface to represent the UK at Eurovision.”

His previous campaigns have been somewhat limited in their success. This is the second time that Binface has run in a general election. Back in 2019 he challenged Boris Johnson, when he received just under 70 votes.

Binface said: “I challenged Boris Johnson at the 2019 General Election, where I received a glorious 69 votes from the great British public.”

Since then Binface has also run for London Mayor in 2021, Uxbridge in 2023 and London Mayor in 2024.
