Mark Till, CEO of Unum UK, has joined the Association of British Insurers (ABI) board with immediate effect.
In addition to joining the board, Till (pictured) will also take on the position of chairperson of the ABI’s health and protection committee, which forms an integral part of the trade association’s health and protection policy development processes.
The ABI board provides the strategic direction to the association’s work and is chaired by Baroness Nicky Morgan.
As the committee chairperson, Till will steer the group’s discussions on policy as the industry seeks to engage with the new government and demonstrate how the sector can support the UK’s productivity.
Till has significant industry knowledge having also worked as managing director of Aegon and having held senior positions at Fidelity, Standard Life, HomeServe and Barclays Bank.
ABI said Till is “passionate about enhancing access to workplace protection to boost employee health, happiness and productivity.”
Till joined Unum as CEO in February 2021 and has been focused on delivering growth and helping more people, successfully increasing Unum UK’s insured individuals by 39% over three years.
Morgan said: “I’m so pleased to have Mark join the ABI’s Board.
“Mark’s experience and knowledge of the industry, and the health and protection market will be hugely valuable as we forge ahead with our mission to support the health and financial resilience of the country.”
Till said: “As an industry, there is great opportunity to work together in supporting people’s health and ensuring we have a world-leading sector with transparent and accessible products and services for all.
“Access to health and protection cover brings enormous benefits to individuals and their family members, not to mention the wider economy.
“As chair, my goal is to help improve understanding of financial protection insurances and broaden their reach to more people.”
