Emergenzz Financial Services managing partner and CEO Sheun Oke is already brainstorming for her third book which will support advisers new to the industry, after launching her second title, The Book on Insurance.
Her latest book is aimed at individuals and businesses looking to better understand the importance of insurance in managing risks and safeguarding wealth.
Oke (pictured) said brokers and advisers in health and protection would find value in the book’s discussion of tailored insurance solutions, client engagement strategies, and risk assessment methodologies.
“It provides tools to better advise clients and build trust through informed recommendations,” Oke told Health & Protection.
“It’s also highly relevant to health and protection brokers, advisers, and financial professionals who want to deepen their knowledge or provide added value to clients.”
The book explores key areas of commercial insurance, health and protection policies, and wealth-building strategies through effective risk management.
The Book on Insurance also includes real-world examples, practical tips, and insights into navigating the complexities of the insurance landscape.
Oke said: “Writing this book was driven by a passion to educate and empower people about the crucial role insurance plays in financial security.
“Over my more than 20 years as a professional and about four years as a financial adviser, I’ve noticed significant gaps in understanding among clients and professionals alike, which this book aims to bridge.”
Future book
Oke is already turning her attention to her next book, which will provide practical advice to new insurance advisers.
Oke said: “It will likely delve deeper into helping new advisers plan their work and work their plans towards obtaining financial freedom as commission only agents.
“This will compliment insights in The Book on Insurance”.
Following the book launch at a gala event in Milton Keynes, Oke said: “I’m committed to expanding its impact and fostering financial literacy.
“Through workshops, seminars, and community outreach, I aim to empower individuals and professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed financial decisions.
“Our Operation ‘Catch’em Young in Finance’ CeYiF was launched on that day, with over 60 sponsored books to be able to promote financial literacy in Secondary schools, Colleges and Universities.
“These books will be free for attendees of our workshops. We look forward to partnerships with different organisations to reach our goal of 100,000 sponsored books.
“I am indeed excited about the future of financial advising.”
Fundraising for sickle cell anaemia
The book launch also had a fundraising aspect which was deeply personal to Oke.
“As you may be aware, sickle cell anaemia affects mainly those from Afro-Caribbean backgrounds,“ she continued.
“We had so many real-life stories of how lives have been positively affected by a particular provider with a supportive product-hospital stay benefit.
“Funds raised will be directed towards organisations focused on research, treatment, and awareness, including some initiatives based in the UK, Africa and Jamaica.“
Oke added that these contributions aim to support those affected by the disease globally.
“Our goal is to have providers come to the roundtable with medical professionals from the Afro-Caribbean community to be able to help provide information or data that could help in them creating products and services that are more inclusive,” she continued.
“We had about four medical doctors in attendance at the Empower and Protect Gala night and they have indicated interest to help when called upon.”
Finding time
Writing and publishing the book took almost three years, from initial concept to final publication, Oke explained.
“It was a challenging yet fulfilling journey. The major works had been done but that was fully updated when Emergenzz Financial services became directly authorised by the FCA,” she said.
Finding time to write the book was no easy task.
Oke said: “Balancing full-time work, family and writing was undoubtedly tough.
“It required strict time management, discipline, and sacrifices, such as working late nights or weekends.
“It also included planning weekend getaways with my husband for a change of scene to help towards the completion.
“Through it all, the drive to share my knowledge and contribute to the industry kept me motivated.”
First book
Oke’s first venture as an author SuperGirl 2 SuperWoman – The Ultimate Guide to Female Leadership, was published in 2015.
Oke said it was written to help navigate the intricacies of being a girl or woman in leadership.
“Unfortunately, the subject of leadership is not one that is clearly taught in schools, hence the job falls into the laps of parents and a few organisations,“ she said.
“The book has helped countless parents to start leadership conversations with their daughters early.”
