The fracture cover pay out for the type of injury England’s Lucy Bronze was carrying for all of Euro 2025 would be around £6,000.
In the aftermath of England’s Women’s successful defence of their European Championship trophy yesterday evening, the England defender (pictured) told the BBC that she had played the entire tournament in immense pain with a fractured tibia.
When asked by Health & Protection about what the pay out would be for Bronze’s type of injury, Alan Lakey, director at CIExpert revealed it would be around £6,000.
But he added whether you could continue to work depends heavily on the type of role you have.
“I could probably do it,” Lakey said.
“They’d strap me up and I could hobble in, but if you’re a driver, you couldn’t do it.”
Though Lakey added he could remember a case many years ago where he had a colleague who fractured his leg and was put in plaster.
“He was in plaster for three months and when they took it off, it hadn’t set,” Lakey continued.
“So they had to re-break it where it was partially set and then reset it and he was in plaster for another four months,” Lakey added.
“But as it turned out, he could do his job. He still managed because it was his left leg and could drive into work every day, but if it had been his right leg – he probably couldn’t.”
