Circle Health Group has appointed Owen James as chief operating officer.
James (pictured) joins from PortmanDentex where he has filled a number of roles over the past six years, including chief operating officer and more recently as managing director for UK and Ireland.
He began his career in the British Army, serving as an infantry officer in the Welsh Guards for five years.
In recent years, James worked for Boston Consulting Group where he specialised in retail and consumer goods, later moving to Waitrose where he spent four years leading strategy as well as managing the pricing and promotions teams.
James’ primary responsibility will be for the operational and financial performance of Circle’s UK wide network of 54 hospitals. He has also been tasked with looking at patient satisfaction, growth opportunities and supporting the delivery of Circle’s wider commercial strategy.
James said: “I am honoured to be joining an extremely talented team at what is a pivotal moment in the organisation’s history. I look forward to supporting my colleagues across the business when I join Circle later in November.”
Paul Manning, chief executive officer of Circle Health Group, added: “It’s great to have Owen with us for the next chapter of Circle’s story.
“Not only is he an extremely experienced and talented operational leader but he brings with him a diverse set of skills and knowledge that will strengthen the organisation as we look to become more competitive commercially and operationally.”
