AES International in Dubai, UAE has appointed Marco Bannerman to its board as non-executive director.

Bannerman (pictured centre) has more than 30 years in insurance and healthcare in both the UK and the UAE.

This includes more than 17 years at Bupa, concluding as director of business markets with a client portfolio of £1.2bn, overseeing the group health policies of some of the largest national and international blue-chip companies.

Following a subsequent role as hospital managing director of The Priory Group, he worked in senior board level roles at Aetna International, moving to Dubai with the insurer as executive director in 2015.

The firm said Bannerman will work with the AES senior team to help “take the company’s health and protection service offering to the next level, enhancing its drive to deliver positive change within corporate health insurance and employee benefits”.

Damien Walsh, managing director of AES, (pictured left) said: “I am hugely excited to welcome Marco to the AES health and protection team.

“His success in the UK market working with national and international blue chip companies, combined with his impact in the Middle East, including as board member of Aetna Global Benefits ME, is a great combination of senior leadership experience and strategic insight that will contribute hugely to AES.”

Sam Instone, co-CEO of AES, (pictured right) added: “I am delighted that Marco has decided to join AES.

“Our health and protection service offering is constantly looking to deliver better outcomes for corporate clients and challenge the outdated operating models of traditional global brokerages. Our strong alignment of people-focused values with someone of Marco’s calibre makes this appointment both timely and exciting.”
