Lee Lovett is retiring as managing director (MD) of group protection at AIG Life with Donald MacLean appointed as his successor.
Lovett has spent more than 40 years in the financial services sector.
He joined AIG Life as MD for group protection at the start of 2019 but entered the sector back in 1979 as a chief underwriter at NEL Britannia.
His senior roles within the sector included head of group risk sales at Bupa, chief executive officer of Ellipse, and has been a steering committee member of Group Risk Development for the last eight years.
MacLean (pictured) has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and has held several roles since joining the UK life insurance arm of Corebridge Financial, previously AIG Life & Retirement, in 2016 as chief actuary and was appointed AIG Life chief financial officer in June 2018.
He is an existing member of AIG Life’s senior leadership team and board, reporting to AIG Life chief executive officer Phil Willcock.

On Lovett’s departure, Willock added: “Lee is a well-respected leader in the group risk industry who played an instrumental role in the transition of Ellipse into AIG Life.
“After 43 years in financial services, Lee now passes the baton on a business with a solid foundation for the future.
“I’ve sought his counsel often and it’s been my great pleasure to work with Lee. On behalf of the team, I wish him all the very best for the future.”
