The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) has renewed its project to launch a comparison tool for private medical insurance (PMI) quotes in the SME market.
AMII treasurer Paul Swanson (pictured) has taken on responsibility for its delivery within the executive committee, a move which was announced at the organisations AGM and spring summit.
The tool will be able to compare product benefits for SME scheme quotes although a firm release date has not yet been revealed.
“In the not too distant future we will have our own AMII SME PMI benefit comparison tool,” Swanson said.
“That won’t just benefit the intermediary market, it will also benefit the insurer market.
“It will enable us to literally compare one insurance product to the next and I think that’s long overdue.”
Expanding on the long-awaited system, Swanson also appealed to insurers to submit data for the project as soon as possible.
“Getting the information from insurers is also quite challenging as well as I found,” Swanson continued.
“To those people who have responded and sent their data in, I thank you. For those people who haven’t, please send it in because without that data, we can’t start this project.
“I’ve spoken to a couple of people who’ve confirmed they are going to send their information in the next couple of weeks, but for those who haven’t, if you could send it in, we can start the build process, and I’m sure that will be a benefit to everybody.”
The organisation previously discussed developing an SME comparison tool in January 2024 with the goal of releasing it a few months later.
It is continuing to work with technology firm Tendr on the project but is now sourcing the product details directly from providers.
