Anthony Cabrelli replaces Sheldon Kenton as MD of Bupa Global – exclusive

Anthony Cabrelli has replaced Sheldon Kenton as managing director of Bupa Global, Health & Protection can reveal

Cabrelli took on the position on 1 October, with his full appointment subject to regulatory approval.

Meanwhile Kenton, who spent five years in the role, will continue as CEO of GeoBlue, the insurer’s joint venture in North America with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

Cabrelli has more than 25 years of experience in the international private medical insurance (IPMI) sector – including more than 20 years at Bupa in various businesses around the world.

He spent five years at UnitedHealthcare Global, including as president of its global solutions and global benefits operations, before leaving in April 2020.

Prior to that Cabrelli’s roles at Bupa included managing director of the insurer’s IPMI business in Latin America and global services director, where he was responsible for integration of services, providers and technology across all of Bupa’s international medical insurance businesses.

A statement from Bupa Global confirming the appointments said the business remained “firmly committed to driving growth in the international health insurance market, providing customers with market leading services and working collaboratively with distribution partners”.
