April International has launched a direct billing payment solution in the form of its Easy Claim Card.

The card enables globally-mobile policyholders to pay medical expenses, wherever they might be, without incurring any personal costs.

It also complements April’s existing range of solutions for covering healthcare expenses abroad, including a pay and claim service with the Easy Claim app for routine treatment and third-party payment agreements with hospitals across the globe.

Following a seven-month trial with a panel of policyholders, April is launching the new payment solution this week, initially to policyholders from its French entity in Paris before roll out to policyholders of its other entities in the near future.

The card can be used at all types of medical facilities to pay for treatment including, GP and specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, prescription drugs, hospital scans (CT, MRI, PT), physiotherapists, dentists and opticians anywhere in the world.

Before receiving medical treatment, the policyholder needs to contact April to get the card instantly loaded with the amount needed to carry out the treatment.

The policyholder can then receive the required treatment, pay with the card and send the receipt to April.

In emergency cases, if there is no direct billing payment arrangement with the hospital, April will credit a card of the policyholder as soon as it receives the estimated cost of treatment.

Isabelle Moins, CEO of April International in Europe, said: “The Easy Claim Card is another example of digital innovation that meets our policyholders’ needs for simplicity and convenience.”

The Easy Claim Card is based on a solution developed in partnership with online banking service Manager.one.

Adrien Touati, co-founder of Manager.one, added: “April International is providing the IPMI market with a practical and simple solution for its policyholders.

“This product corresponds perfectly to what manager.one wants to provide – an impeccable and transparent user experience.

“We’re excited to be working with April International to help introduce this innovative solution to the market.”
