Aspen Healthcare has continued the sell off its hospitals and clinics with the sale of its stake in Nova Healthcare, leaving it with just one remaining property.

In a statement sent to Health & Protection, the private healthcare provider revealed it has agreed to sell its 50% stake in Nova Healthcare – the specialist private patient cancer facility of the Leeds Cancer Centre – back to its original shareholders.

This leaves the business, which two weeks ago owned eight private healthcare centres, with only one – Midland Eye in Solihull.

Aspen acquired its stake in Nova Healthcare back in April 2015.

Its partnership saw Aspen work in cooperation with prominent local NHS consultants and the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to provide private patient services.

Aspen’s ownership group UAE-based NMC Healthcare went into administration in April 2020 and reports of an expected sell-off of Aspen’s assets circulated last year

In the past week, Aspen has sold Parkside Private Hospital, The Holly Private Hospital, Cancer Centre London, Highgate Private Hospital, The Edinburgh Clinic and its corporate office to Nuffield Health, while the Claremont Private Hospital in Sheffield was sold to Spire Healthcare last week.
