Axa Health has acquired online outpatient service provider HBSUK.

HBSUK is one of a number of existing external service providers that Axa Health works with.

The insurer committed to build on its existing relationship with the firm and to accelerate the development of its online muscles, bones and joints service following the deal.

It added that  in the future it intends to expand HBSUK’s services to “allow more choice, flexibility and value.

“This will help to increase value for members, offer more accessible treatment and support the ambition to provide private healthcare solutions which meet a broader range of customer needs,” it said.

An approved NHS England provider, HBSUK offers additional services which help to support the NHS, such as out of hours on-site medical and clinical services to bolster service capacity.

Tara Foley, CEO, Axa UK and Ireland, (pictured) said: “I’m delighted to welcome HBSUK colleagues to Axa and look forward to working together to continue to improve healthcare services for private and NHS patients.

“This exciting step forward for our business demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting people’s health and getting members faster access to the care they need, when they need it.

“Across Axa, we always aim to provide high quality products and cover, now and in the future, and using digital platforms such as this helps to create more effective services which supports our ambition.”

Dave Mezher, CEO, at HBSUK, said: “We are delighted to join Axa Health as together we can accelerate the development of our services and support patients to have faster access to healthcare and create better patient outcomes across a wide range of specialisms.

“Continuing to deliver excellent service to patients served through the NHS remains a priority.

“We’re confident that together we’ll be able to improve health outcomes and are looking forward to the future and an exciting journey ahead with Axa Health.”
