Edward Argar has been appointed shadow secretary of state for health and social care and Helen Whatley as shadow work and pensions secretary by Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch.
Argar (pictured) has been MP for Melton and Syston since May 2015 and had been shadow justice secretary for Rishi Sunak following the Conservatives election defeat in July.
He had been a minister of state in the justice department from October 2022 to July when Sunak was prime minister.
Argar does have experience in the department of health and social care (DHSC) having been a minister in the department for almost three years from September 2019 to July 2022 under Boris Johnson.
Whately has been MP for Faversham and Mid Kent also since May 2015 and has held two ministerial positions in the DHSC, most recently for almost two years under Sunak and prior to that for 18 months under Johnson.
She was also exchequer secretary to the Treasury for almost a year under Johnson.
Whatley had been shadow transport secretary since the election defeat in July.
Badenoch is bringing together her first shadow cabinet after being elected as the new leader of the Conservative party on 2 November.
