Broadway Insurance Brokers has appointed Emma Wood as director of healthcare.
Wood (pictured) joins from Reich Insurance Group where she was deputy head of department and before that healthcare account handler.
Prior to joining Reich she worked in private medical insurance broking services at Willis Towers Watson.
The broker has also appointed Louisa Roberts as senior client executive.
The pair’s appointments follow Gary Ward’s hire as its director of operations, internal audit, risk and compliance in July.
Broadway chief executive Daniel Lloyd-John described how a key factor in the continued growth of the company had been a rise in the number of client businesses opting to use health cover to attract and retain staff in the face of NHS treatment delays.
He added that establishing a specific division to meet the strong demand for support in adopting PMI programmes was a “strategic evolution” of Broadway’s boutique service.
“Across the breadth of personal and corporate insurance provision, health cover is perhaps unique in that the vast majority of policyholders are left to deal directly with insurers once a claim has been made,” Lloyd-John continued.
“I don’t think that anyone particularly likes making a claim. The process becomes even more of a daunting prospect for individuals who are unfamiliar with the way that the industry works.
“In addition, it can compound the natural distress created by the sort of medical conditions which oblige them to actually make a claim.
“We believe that clients and insurers alike really do benefit from having brokers who are pro-active not just advising about putting the right cover in place but being there to help make a claim less complicated or stressful.
“It is an approach which has already seen us make swift inroads as risk management advisors to both private and corporate clients.
“We are confident that it will be particularly fruitful given that it comes at a time when private health insurance is increasingly viewed as a commercial priority by companies both large and small.
“It makes perfect sense that we should have that effort led by someone who is not only immensely talented and knows the sector well but who fits with our way of doing things.
“In Emma, we are tremendously lucky to have found just such a person. Together with Louisa, she is another valuable addition to our team and will help make the task of supporting clients even easier.”
