Bupa and Spire Healthcare have signed a four-year agreement which will see Spire provide care to Bupa’s UK health insurance customers, including access to eight existing cancer specialist centres across the UK.

The agreement will give the insurer’s UK customers access to 38 Spire hospitals and more than 60 clinics, including eight cancer centres.

In turn, Bupa will open five cancer centres and five musculoskeletal sites. A new gynaecology centre is also planned.

The companies will also develop a value-based healthcare approach and work to improve clinical care.

Reducing their carbon footprint is also on the agenda.

Nikola Kamel, head of hospital management at Bupa UK, said the partnership strengthens the commitment to delivering quality and timely care.

“Over the next four years, we’ll keep pushing the boundaries of what great healthcare looks like, making it quicker and simpler for people to get the diagnosis and treatment they need.

“By working closely together and sharing insight, we can drive meaningful improvements in patient experience and outcomes, while shaping a sustainable future for healthcare.”

Peter Corfield, chief commercial officer at Spire Healthcare, added: “We look forward to working with Bupa to develop new cancer, musculoskeletal and gynaecology specialist centres, to offer patients rapid access to diagnostics and clinical expertise to drive the best possible care outcomes.”
