Bupa Health Clinics has launched a new Covid-19 testing service with self-swab kits sent to customers’ homes, costing £149.
The test tells customers if they currently have COVID-19, and includes follow up support for customers via the Bupa Anytime HealthLine.
The PCR testing service is available to all customers, whether or not they are symptomatic. The kit contains a nasal and throat swab, with clear instructions on how to carry out the test themselves. After the test is returned to Bupa’s partner laboratory, Everything Genetics, a result is confirmed within 48hrs.
Bupa Health Clinics is recognised by the Government as a private COVID-19 testing company.
Following the test, customers can access Bupa’s 24/7 Anytime HealthLine, a nurse-led helpline, for any advice or support they need. Each customer is able to make one call up to three months after receiving the result.
Sarah Melia, managing director of Bupa Health Clinics, said: “We’re delighted to launch our new self-swab PCR home testing kit. This provides reassurance, whilst also ensuring that those who test positive can self-isolate swiftly to prevent the spread of the virus.
“On receiving the result, we know that people will have questions. Our follow-up support from our Anytime HealthLine nurses offers advice on managing symptoms and treatment.”
If a test confirms a positive result, the individual must self-isolate for 10 days in line with government guidance.
The results are shared with government organisations for public health monitoring purposes and are entered into the NHS test and trace system to inform those the individual has been in contact with to isolate and seek a COVID-19 test.
Bupa Health Clinics also offers rapid antibody tests for £65, which show if the individual has detectable antibodies to COVID-19.
