Bupa is rolling out its Well+ Silver subscription service to self-paying customers.

The subscription gives customers access to health and wellbeing services through the insurer’s digital healthcare platform Blua.

Well+ was launched to employers earlier this year and is now available for self-paying customers to sign up directly for a 12 month subscription.

The silver tier subscription service follows the launch of Bupa’s GP subscription service – the bronze tier, in June.

Alongside access to digital GP and nurse appointments, customers with the silver subscription will be able to book digital consultations with physiotherapists and mental health specialists, starting from £20 per month.

Customers can also use digital wellness services including gym classes and wellbeing programmes like guided meditation.

This will give people who are not covered by the firm’s health insurance access to health and wellbeing services provided through Blua, it said.

The service is available for individuals, couples or families, allowing people to choose the subscription to suit their household with health and wellbeing services offered digitally.

The service includes:

  • Counselling: Up to six, hour-long sessions to help improve wellbeing per subscription year.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Up to eight, hour-long sessions to improve mental health per subscription year.
  • Remote personal lifestyle coaching: Up to two hours of support to increase motivation and commitment to lifestyle change per subscription year.
  • Mental health support: Online resource support available with self-managed treatment programmes.
  • Remote physiotherapy sessions: Up to six online appointments with a physiotherapist each subscription year for MSK conditions.
  • Wellbeing: Access to online fitness classes, training programmes and exercise plans, plus advice, tips and tools for healthy living such as guided meditation.
  • Digital GP services: Fast access to appointments with Bupa GPs or nurses.

Bupa Well+ is now available with mental health and physiotherapy services and has four different options: individual (£20 a month), couple (£40 a month), single parent family (£30 a month) or two parent family (£50 a month).

Richard Washington, interim general manager at Bupa UK Insurance, said the service aimed to make access to health and wellbeing services more accessible and affordable.

“We know some of the biggest concerns people have about their health is accessing appointments when they need them, and sometimes it’s really hard to do that while juggling other commitments,” he said.

“We hope that giving people the option to book these around their busy schedules will allow them to get the health and wellbeing services they need, whether that’s with a GP, mental health specialist or physiotherapist.”
