Bupa launches Evolve Master Trust based on care pathways

Bupa has launched the Bupa Evolve Master Trust based around its care pathways.

The trust uses the insurer’s connected care pathways to access care and is designed for businesses with over 300 employees.

Through a combination of Bupa’s own services and clinical partners, employees are guided into managed pathways that aim to support fast treatment starts, cost efficiencies and strong clinical outcomes, the insurer said.

It added that the model aims to help manage rising healthcare costs by enabling businesses to self‑fund healthcare through a master trust structure, supported by stop‑loss insurance protection.

Under this model, businesses fund the first 80% of projected annual claims, with stop-loss providing financial protection where claims exceed the trust value.

If claims fall below this amount, any remaining surplus can be carried forward and deliver ongoing value.

Bupa said the scheme design is tailored to each workforce so businesses can shape a health plan that reflects their priorities and supports cost sustainability.

The Connected Care pathways include GP and digital health services, as well as access to more than 100 health clinics and three Bupa‑owned hospitals.

Open referral

Open referral means employees to be guided to clinicians with fee‑assured options close to where they live or work.

Features also include guided care allowing direct access to clinical triage for MSK concerns, mental health needs and symptoms requiring urgent assessment, and enhanced mental health support which sees mental health excess and outpatient waivers apply for remote and face‑to‑face therapies at Bupa Mindplace centres.

Dan Sullivan, product and proposition director for Bupa UK Insurance, said: “Organisations are under pressure to manage rising healthcare costs whilst also facing demand for health cover within employee benefits to attract and retain talent.

“To meet this need, and in response to the development of corporate excess products in the market, we have designed a new trust product built around our Connected Care pathways.

“The Bupa Evolve Master Trust offers businesses a smarter way to fund healthcare, improving cost efficiency while protecting the quality and speed of care their people receive.”
