Bupa has launched a mental health proposition for businesses focused on early intervention and helping employees to maintain good mental health.
The Workplace Mental Health Advantage is an integrated service that aims to support mental health by combining data analytics, behavioural insights and coaching.
The insurer did not answer when asked by Health & Protection if the service will be available as part of existing group private medical insurance (PMI) schemes or as a standalone product.
When asked about the size of organisations that would be eligibile, Bupa told Health & Protection it will be discussing the proposition with its current clients to assess their needs in developing the product as it is rolled out.
It has since said: “The service will be available to all corporate clients and may be customised based on their needs.”
The service offers:
- Advanced data analytics that can help businesses understand the impact of mental health and plan effective interventions.
- Refreshed wellbeing engagement services built using behavioural insights to help build a more resilient workplace.
- Partnering with JAAQ to offer businesses a customised set of innovative wellbeing services and tools for the workplace.
- Digital access to a mental health therapist within 10 days for all members.
Bupa also launched a series of pilots to continue the evolution of the proposition.
These include an integrated mental health service incorporating employee assistance programme (EAP) and PMI to deliver a simpler and more connected experience, and a new coaching service for employees that helps them build resilience and supports a culture of early intervention.
Bupa UK Insurance general manager of business and specialist products Richard Norris said that encouraging employees to invest time to manage their wellbeing can be difficult, so he was pleased to be combining data analytics capabilities, behavioural insights expertise and a new coaching service.
“Many employers increased their focus on mental health in response to the pandemic and are now looking to better support their people and manage costs with a focus on improving resilience by better adoption of preventive services,“ he said.
“Across Bupa there is a huge amount we can do to help employers and our new Workplace Mental Health Advantage brings all together into one package of services that will help reduce the burden and make it easier to improve the culture of wellbeing in their organisation.“
