Bupa is launching cancer specialist centres dedicated to gynaecology and gastroenterology at its London-based Cromwell Hospital and New Victoria Hospital.
The gynaecology specialist centre at Cromwell Hospital includes access to diagnostics, alongside treatment for conditions such as endometriosis and gynaecological cancers, with the pathway set to expand to New Victoria Hospital in the new year.
The gynaecology specialist centres will aim to help to meet growing demand by providing quick access to care and early treatment.
The integrated pathway offers triage with a cancer nurse specialist within 24 hours of contacting the insurer and a face-to-face appointment within three working days for minor diagnostics or imaging if symptoms suggest cancer or endometriosis.
Amer Raza, consultant gynaecologist at Cromwell Hospital, said: “By combining specialist diagnostics with advanced surgical options, including robotic-assisted procedures that reduce pain and support faster recovery, we’re improving access to timely care and helping to deliver better outcomes for women with endometriosis and gynaecological cancers.”
Gastroenterology
Meanwhile, specialist centres for gastroenterology are already available at both locations and are providing diagnosis and treatment for suspected gastrointestinal cancers.
The insurer said these centres seek to respond to a rise in customer demand for cancer-related gastroenterology care, providing consultations, diagnostics and treatment for suspected gastrointestinal cancers.
Triage, tests, diagnosis and a consultation with a gastroenterology specialist all take place within eight days, with treatment starting within three weeks of contact, the insurer added.
Bupa said the process would take 31 days from first contact to treatment.
