Business Protection Focus Week is returning in February featuring representatives from Everywhen, Iress, Waymore, London FS, Royal London, Trethowans Solicitors and Bizval.
In its second year, the free to attend virtual sessions will cover a wide range of business protection opportunities.
These include exit planning, opportunities for mortgage advisers, how group protection policies can support clients, factors affecting the value of client’s private business, practical protection for sole traders, disaster planning for business owners, business protection planning for family businesses, business whole of life and business healthcare and protection.
Last June, a range of protection industry organisations came together to launch the week which aims to raise awareness and educate advisers about business protection and inspire them to get involved in the market.
In its inaugural year advisers such as LifeSearch, Pangea, Wealthmax, Towergate, Way More and Wyke Financial took part.
Insurers Royal London, Zurich, Legal & General, LV=, Scottish Widows and Unisure, along with other organisations such as Swiss Re, QB partners, CI Expert, IPipeline and Iress also participated.
The focus at launch included a series of panel debates and discussions around various subjects in the business protection market – all aimed to help advisers whether they are new to the market or have been in it for a while.
‘Advisers best placed to help SMEs’
Stuart Halliwell, owner of Stuart Halliwell Consulting and founder of Business Protection Focus Week, said: “Advisers are best placed to help SMEs secure a safe financial future.
“There are so many reasons why advisers should be more active in the business protection market and many advantages for those who are.
“Through a collaboration across the market, we plan to work together to grow the business protection market, and help advisers be one of their trusted experts that businesses turn to.
“We want to build on the success of the first week and as there are so many aspects to cover we’ve come back with a series of new subjects.”
Roy McLoughlin, benefits adviser at Plan Money, added: “Business protection is such an important yet arguably under-serviced market.
“This week brings together advisers, insurers and industry business protection experts in a collaborative push to enable more advisers to confidently enter this market.
“SMEs in the UK should increase as the growth agenda plays out and the requirement for great comprehensive advice increases.
“The marketplace is therefore established but evolving and an educational week of varied topics from a variety of sources is one we would encourage people to attend.”
