Aviva has appointed Doug Brown, the current CEO of Canada Life, as CEO of its UK & Ireland Life Insurance business.
Brown succeeds Angela Darlington who has decided to ‘move away from corporate life”, an Aviva spokesperson said.
Darlington will leave Aviva in April 2021, after a period of handover with Brown.
Brown has over three decades of experience in the life insurance industry. He has led Canada Life’s UK business for the past six years and prior to that was the providers’ UK chief operating officer.
Following his appointment, Brown will join Aviva’s Group Executive Committee, reporting to Aviva Group CEO, Amanda Blanc.
Brown is expected to join Aviva in April 2021 and his appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
