US managed care provider Centene Corporation has appointed Rich Fisher as senior vice president and medicare CEO.

Fisher, who will oversee the firm’s medicare strategy, product development, sales, and operations, joined Centene through its acquisition of Wellcare and has more than 15 years in the combined organisation.

For the past four years, he has served as its medicare chief financial officer and has played a key role in driving overall growth and profitability for the firm’s medicare products.

He will report to Brent Layton, executive vice president and president of US health plans, products, and international.

Commenting on Fisher’s appointment, Layton said: “At Centene, we continually look to promote our internal talent into enhanced roles.

“I am pleased to announce Rich has been selected to serve as our SVP, medicare CEO. His expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow our medicare business and deliver on our commitments to our 2021 priorities.”
