Claire Ginnelly has stepped down as vice chairwoman of the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) after 13 years in the role.
Ginnelly (pictured) told Health & Protection: “Having spent 13 years as vice chairwoman with AMII, now was the time to step down and for new blood to come on board with the executive committee.
“I had also served a couple of years previous to that in the mid-2000s as well.
“So having spent lot of time working with AMII I’m looking to see new blood coming through and continuing the good work and I’m glad to see that happening with Lucy Pearce and Anders Lewis coming on.”
Ginnelly’s exit coincides with the departure of fellow long-serving members Guy Jones, director at Berwick Devoil Healthcare, and Alan Mulligan, client director at Partners& from AMII’s executive committee.
It also coincides with the appointments of Lucy Pearce, commercial director at Brown & Brown Health and Employee Benefits, and Anders Lewis, corporate consulting team lead at Gallagher.
Speaking at last week’s AMII Spring Summit where the changes were announced, executive chairman Dave Middleton thanked Ginnelly, Jones and Mulligan for their time with the organisation.
“I’d like to thank Claire, Guy and Alan for all the work they’ve done prior to me taking over,” he said.
“They’ve done a great job and I’m really pleased with their input as a friend and also as an intermediary colleague.”
Pearce and Lewis join
AMII’s executive committee helps set its strategic direction, developing member services, and drive industry-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare provision across the UK.
Pearce has nearly two decades of industry experience to the committee.
Having joined Advo in 2020 as a board director, she now serves as commercial director at Brown & Brown Health and Employee Benefits following the acquisition of Advo group in July 2024.
In her role, she oversees insurer negotiations, appointed representative (AR) management, and strategic cross-referral programmes between general insurance and health and employee benefits.
Lewis brings more than 20 years of expertise to the committee and began his career in 2001 at United Medical Services Ltd, where he led the SME and retail teams.
Through various roles at firms including Oval Group, Gallagher, Benefex, and Brunel Employee Benefits, he developed experience in both SME and corporate healthcare.
Now back at Gallagher, he leads a team managing corporate healthcare, risk, pensions, and technology.
Middleton also welcomed Pearce and Lewis to the leadership group.
“I am thrilled to have Lucy and Anders joining our executive committee, whose combined 40-plus years of industry expertise will no doubt be extremely useful as we continue to support our members and advance the healthcare insurance sector,” he said.
