Collaboration needed to design IPMI products sector is ‘screaming’ out for – Lourdes Peters

International private medical insurance (IPMI) brokers should seek to spend time with providers to help design the products the sector is “screaming” out for.

This is according to World of America CEO Lourdes Peters, who was speaking at Health & Protection’s Global Mobility and Health Summit last week.

See how companies work

“Go and ask your companies that you work with to let you spend time with them and see the insides and how the companies work,” Peters told delegates.

“I think that will give you a much better idea of how you can help the company to be better.”

Fresh ideas

Peters maintained that while there is a misconception that providers do not want to speak to brokers, intermediaries can often bring fresh ideas to the table.

“We see it everyday. We are designing products that the market is requiring, that it is screaming out for,” Peters continued. “Products that fit the needs of the client.

“We just designed a product that’s a cafeteria plan. That’s a very common plan in the United States where you pick and choose your coverage based on your needs, on your gender.

“There is the possibility to do those things, but you want to sit with the companies and do it.

“You can approach them. They are approachable no matter how big they are.”
