Dentists’ Provident paid out £4.5m in claims to members during 2025, according its claims report for 2025.

This was down from £4.9m in claims in 2024.

The report shows the largest amount paid to an individual claimant was £87,859, broadly similar to the previous year.

The majority of the claims paid were once again to those aged 46-55 years-old. The average age of claimants was 50, up from 49 in 2024, while the youngest claimant was 27, unchanged from 2024.

A total of 916 claims were paid, down from 995 claims in 2024, with new claims falling to 782 from 874 in the previous year.

According to the findings, 98.5% of new claims received a payment, up from 97.5% in 2024.

Musculoskeletal disorders, accidents, psychiatric disorders and cancers accounted for some of the most significant reasons for claims.

The provider received six claims-related complaints, up two from the previous year, but none were referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Raj Rattan, non-executive director of Dentists’ Provident, said: “I am very proud of how many of our members we helped during 2025.

“The proportion of new claims paid is a testament to the benefits of an integrated approach to underwriting and claims. By following a thorough underwriting process, we seek to minimise issues for our members when they really need us.”

Giles Kidner, chairman at Dentists’ Provident, adds: “We make a considerable investment in our plans and our service, to give our members confidence that they have a dependable income protection plan that works for them. “
