Reading over the detail of an application helped an adviser ensure their client received a pay out for a policy already in place which might otherwise have been missed.
The client would potentially have lost out on thousands of pounds throughthe claim and been left with an exclusion for their new plan.
To mark St Valentine’s Day Health & Protection has been speaking to advisers to discover their stories of how they have shared the love and gone above and beyond on behalf of customers.
Karla Edwards, owner of The Protection Parent (pictured), told Health & Protection she recently had a client where exploring the detail of the application made all the difference.
“I had a client who had current cover and she wanted me to look over it,” Edwards explained.
“However when I looked at her medical information and her application, she actually had a claim for a mild cancer that she didn’t realise she could claim on.
“So I sent her to her original provider and she ended up getting a pay out.
“If I hadn’t done the check, she would never have known she could have claimed. On top of that she would have swapped her policy and then would have an exclusion as well.”
