The inaugural report takes a deep dive into the retail cash plan and dental plan markets, looking at the key players, analysing the size of the market and the key product developments.
It reveals that more than 504,000 people owned a retail cash plan at the end of 2020, making it just over a third the size of the corporate cash plan market.
The market is dominated by Simplyhealth which reported a 60% market share out of those providers who responded.
Meanwhile the dental plan market has more than 50,000 customers with Denplan the leading figure in terms of market share with 84% of the sector.
However, while providers paid out around 40% less in claims during 2020 than in 2019, the average cost per claim rose around 12% as the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
