The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is “progressing at pace” to find a successor for director of insurance Matt Brewis with its recruitment campaign now closed.

The regulator has been searching for Brewis’ replacement since he left to join KPMG in the summer, with director of competition Graeme Reynolds temporarily taking on the vacant role.

Responding to a question about Brewis’ successor following his departure in August, Sarah Pritchard (pictured), deputy chief executive of the FCA, revealed the regulator is recruiting openly for his replacement.

“That recruitment campaign closed within the last few weeks, so we are progressing that at pace.” Pritchard told the FCA’s Annual Public Meeting today.

“One of our existing director team Graeme Reynolds who is our director of competition, has been working alongside Matt Brewis for quite a lot of the market study work.” Pritchard continued.

“He is acting as director of insurance for this period and of course it is under my leadership as well.

“I can assure you that just with a change of personnel at a senior level, there’s no let up in the pace of work that we’re doing or the focus we’re applying to this sector.”
