Professor Sneh Khemka has been named in the 2025 New Year’s Honours List and appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
Khemka (pictured) has spent almost 20 years in senior roles within the health insurance industry and related sectors and has been part of the judging panel for the UK Health & Protection Awards.
He was recognised for services to healthcare, science, and innovation and technology.
Khemka’s career includes more than six years within Bupa including as medical director for Bupa International, acting group medical director and director of development for healthcare.
He was also vice president for population health and vHealth at Aetna International for seven years before becoming CEO of Simplyhealth for two years in March 2021.
He is currently executive director for integrated health and wellbeing at Neom, the urban and economic development which forms a major element of the Saudi Arabia 2030 vision programme.
Khemka also has board positions with a range of companies including Habitual Healthcare, AllergyRhino, Synnovis, Medi2Data, and Qured.
He is additionally venture partner at Archimed Health, an honorary professor of healthcare at the University of Wales Trinity St David and an honorary member of the Faculty of Public Health.
Khemka, who is 49, trained as a cancer surgeon in Edinburgh and London and has also been an expedition medic and previously hosted a weekly call-in radio show on LBC.
Khemka said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. It is a privilege to be part of an industry that has such a profound impact on the lives of so many.
“Having worked in the NHS for many years and within the wider healthcare landscape beyond that, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside many inspiring individuals and organisations, proudly sharing their commitment to making a positive difference.”
