Sales director Robert Smith is leaving Freedom Health Insurance after almost two decades with the insurer.
In a statement the insurer said Smith (pictured) was leaving after 19 years at the company “to start a new chapter in his career”. He will leave the insurer on 1 March having been with the business since its 2003 launch.
Freedom Health Insurance has appointed Robert Malvasi, who is sales director at broker firm UK Health Insurance, as head of sales and distribution to replace Smith.
A former claims assessor at RSA and subsequently a senior new business consultant at Health-on-line, Smith joined Freedom in operations and has since been promoted to distribution manager and then sales director five years ago.
Malvasi has more than 20 years of UK and international industry experience including senior roles at CS Healthcare, Secure Health and most recently, his role as sales director at independent broker UK Health Insurance.
Alistair Sclare, managing director at Freedom Health Insurance, said: “We are looking forward to Robert Malvasi joining us and leading our distribution team as Freedom Health Insurance is approaching its 20-year anniversary.
“Robert Smith has been a central figure within our business since its launch in 2003 and will be greatly missed by everyone at Freedom.
“We would like to offer him our thanks for his contribution towards making Freedom what it is today and wish him every success in his next challenge.”
