The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has appointed Gallagher UK CEO Michael Rea as its next deputy chairperson.
Rea (pictured) succeeds Aon UK CEO Jane Keilty, who has reached the end of her BIBA deputy chairperson tenure.
Graeme Trudgill, CEO of BIBA, said: “It is a great honour for BIBA to be able to have brokers of such stature willing and able to play a key role in our governance structure.
“Michael will bring all of his great experience and knowledge around the current landscape of UK broking to help us continue to work for our members.”
“While wholeheartedly welcoming Michael to the board I would also like to thank Jane for all the work she has done in helping steer BIBA over her time as deputy chairperson and her continuing to steer our Insurance Brokers’ Standards Committee as its chairperson. I am sure she will continue to support us going forward.”
Rea will take up his post from 6 January at the first BIBA board meeting of the year.
He said: “Insurance brokers play a vital role in supporting the UK economy and helping businesses and consumers identify, mitigate and transfer risks.
“The more BIBA can do to advocate for the unique role that brokers play in providing insurance solutions, risk management advice, and support during the claims process, the better.
“Given Gallagher’s extensive presence across the UK, I am delighted to have been invited to join the board and help shape BIBA’s agenda of championing and promoting insurance brokers of all sizes and areas of expertise.”
Keilty said: “I have loved being part of shaping the direction of BIBA over the last three years. Though I am stepping down as deputy chairperson I will be continuing on the board and look forward to seeing what our priorities are going forward.”
