GeoBlue hires Simon Jackson from Mercer as chief growth officer

GeoBlue is appointing Simon Jackson as chief growth officer to lead the organisation’s sales, client management, and sales effectiveness teams.

Jackson (pictured) has more than 20 years’ experience in health and global benefits and led Bupa Global’s initial entry to the US.

GeoBlue is now the international private medical insurance (IPMI) joint venture between 15 Blue Cross Blue Shield companies and Bupa Global in the US.

Jackson joins from Mercer health and benefits where he served as a principal and leader of its expatriate benefits center of excellence in Chicago for two and a half years.

Prior to that he was chief commercial officer for Axa Partners and had been national vice president of sales at UnitedHealthcare Global, spending more than six years at the insurer.

He also spent a decade as head of sales for North America at Bupa Global with another year as head of sales for Europe and North America at Bupa, having started his career at Axa PPP Healthcare in the UK.

Jackson said he was delighted to be joining GeoBlue to lead the growth team.

“Having led Bupa Global’s initial entry into the U.S. market in the early 2000s, and UnitedHealthcare Global’s launch of their expatriate solutions in the early 2010s, I am keenly aware of the opportunities in the globally mobile benefits space,” he said.

“GeoBlue is uniquely positioned to support globally mobile customers and to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise in the future.”

The move follows the appointment of Diego Fernández as president and CEO of GeoBlue in June after the departure of Sheldon Kenton. Kenton has since joined Global Benefits Group.

Fernández added he was extremely excited to welcome Jackson to GeoBlue’s executive committee as chief growth officer.

“Simon’s extensive experience as a leader in the international benefits space will help us provide world-class solutions to the globally mobile and deliver on the high-touch, high-tech services people expect from GeoBlue,” he said.
