Canada Life is witnessing greater demand for line manager training in subject areas previously considered “off the agenda” like menopause training.
Ian Ranger, head of claims and medical underwriting at the insurer told Health & Protection its was an increasingly important service to offer clients.
“We were proud to champion our menopause training which helps line managers understand how they can help people experiencing symptoms,” Ranger said.
“We’re about to do a session looking at men’s health and we see topics such as children’s mental health being likely future topics.”
Picking up on the theme, Clare Dare, head of health, risk and technology at PIB Employee Benefits, told Health & Protection it was interesting to see how some insurers are trying to offer more value added and support services.
“Obviously there must be a cost for add-on services because they’re paying for them at source but I do think insurers are looking more at what else they can offer,” Dare said.
“One of the big things for my clients at the moment is fertility, menopause and men’s health so it could be that the group risk insurers look at offering those things.
“You’ve only got to look at the private medical insurance providers like Axa offering Peppy.”
