Handl Group has signed an exclusive deal to provide Limbic’s psychological therapy service as a bespoke offering for the business-to-business market.

The partnership means the AI-based mental healthcare services platform will be made available outside the NHS for the first time. The platform is currently available in five NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in the UK.

The platform, which uses conversational AI to deliver National Institute for Health Care Excellence (NICE) approved therapies to patients, can be used from when the patient first enters the waiting list through to post-recovery.

The firm added that throughout the process it uses data from clinicians and patients to personalise the product and facilitate remote monitoring.

Handl Group chief commercial officer Chris Chatterton said: “We continue to scour the market for the best cutting edge technology available, and Limbic is the tool we’ve selected to enhance our psychological networks.

“This is far from a mindfulness app; it is an AI therapy assistant that amplifies the power of clinicians through data, rather than seeking to replace them.

“Limbic has already been successful in the NHS, and the platform’s ability to reduce patient wait times and barriers to service access are particularly welcome at the moment, as we see an increased demand for mental health support networks.”

Ross Harper, CEO and co-founder of Limbic, added: “It is a crucial time for mental healthcare, where digital solutions like ours need to bridge the gap between patient demand and clinical capacity.

“Our partnership with Handl Group will enable us to take mental healthcare beyond the NHS and ensure we are able to provide speedier access to support for as many people as possible.”
