HCA Healthcare UK has today opened the doors to its £18m, 20,000 square foot state outpatient centre in Canary Wharf.
The firm said the opening aims to meet the growing demand for private healthcare in convenient locations, corporate workplace health schemes and the growth in private medical insurance, with around 75% of holders covered through their employer.
The outpatient centre offers access to an expert team of over 70 consultants and GPs.
They will be providing care across a full range of medical specialties, from GP appointments and health screens through to expertise in cancer, cardiac, orthopaedics and women’s health amongst others.
It will also offer specialist fertility expertise to meet growing demand for these services from employers.
John Reay, president and CEO of HCA Healthcare UK, said: “Our £18m expansion at Canary Wharf is part of our commitment to ensuring that we are investing in our network to provide convenient points of access to high quality healthcare.”
“The opening of this outpatient centre reflects our confidence in Canary Wharf as a hub for businesses and we anticipate providing over 50,000 patient appointments in our first year alone.”
Soraya Chamberlain, vice president of corporate healthcare at HCA Healthcare UK, added: “HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf has been guided by the insights of our corporate health team who understand that to look to after the health of employees most effectively an onus needs to be placed on quick access to expert medical advice, health screening and diagnostics at the earliest opportunity.
“This centre provides exactly that and, on a scale, not matched in the area.
“It is part of our unique and holistic corporate health offer, combining in-person and virtual access to care, occupational health expertise and the capability, through our hospital network, to provide onward treatment to patients no matter what their health need.”
HCA Healthcare UK Canary Wharf outpatients will be operated by London Bridge Hospital, extending its range of outpatient access points that currently includes HCA UK City of London and HCA UK at The Shard.
Patients requiring onward referral for both routine and complex care across a wide range of sub-specialities such as women’s health, orthopaedics, cardiac, and cancer care will have access to HCA UK’s wider network of hospitals and specialist clinics.
The opening at Canary Wharf marks HCA UK’s third opening this year with the launch of The Harborne Hospital in January and announcements on women’s health centres in May.
