Alun Beynon (pictured) has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the health and protection industry at the Health & Protection Awards 2024.
Beynon, who now runs his own consultancy, Ab Consulting, stepped down from his role as Scottish Widows’ head of distribution for intermediary protection last month.
He spoke to Health & Protection at the time about how the provider’s launch of its income protection product was the catalyst for moving on.
Beynon has spent 40 years in the sector, 27 of which were with Aegon and the last 10 with Scottish Widows.
He picked out leading Aegon Protect in 2006 to 2010 as a career highlight as well as being brought into Lloyds Banking Group to build the business case to bring Scottish Widows back into the intermediary market in 2015, which he achieved.
