US health benefits administrator HealthComp has appointed Sanoj Balakrishnan as chief technology officer.

Balakrishnan will be responsible for the firm’s overall tech strategy to ensure it meets growth objectives and serves a larger number of brokers and mid to large sized clients, the business said.

He was most recently head of digital business and technology for the healthcare practice at US multinational technology firm Cognizant.

Commenting on Balakrishnan’s appointment, Healthcomp CEO Jose Rivero said the firm was thrilled to welcome Balakrishnan to the executive team.

“He has a powerhouse combination of leadership skills and technology expertise. His entrepreneurial and innovative mindset makes him a natural fit with our business and vision,” Rivero said.

“For the past 15 years, he’s led digital transformation projects for Fortune 500 companies in healthcare and other industries.

“Through his tenure in healthcare, he’s leveraged technology to drive growth, increase member engagement, better manage rising costs, and foster a superior experience for health plan members.”
