Best Health Insurance Adviser profile Peter Lurie: Award win proves a family affair

Winning Best Health Insurance Adviser at the Health & Protection Awards proved to be a family affair in more ways than one for Peter Lurie, director at Proactive Medical & Life.

Speaking to Health & Protection about his win at the 2023 Awards, Lurie (pictured) revealed this proved so special because his son was there to share the celebration with him.

Such a special night

“The night I won the award was amazing. I felt incredibly happy and proud,” Lurie told Health & Protection.

“It was also special because my 17-year-old son, who just started working with us part-time while he studies business at college, was there. It showed him how great this industry can be and inspired him.

“Winning the Best Health Insurance Adviser of the Year was a huge deal and everyone was really supportive.

“It’s a big honour and it has helped our business a lot. It made us more respected in the industry and gave us a chance to make our services even better.”

Focus on mental health

But it was another family member who Lurie feels helped his Awards submission truly stand out.

“This past year, we’ve made a lot of small changes to make sure we always put our clients first,” Lurie continued.

“We’ve made the process of getting and using insurance better and more focused on what the client needs. We’ve always cared a lot about making sure our clients have a good experience, from the moment they choose insurance to when they need to use it.

“We’ve also added a new part to our business that focuses on mental health, led by my wife Lucy, who is a psychologist,” he said.

“This has become really important since the pandemic started.

“We also work closely with our insurance partners to help train our advisers, which is something we’re very thankful for. We’re thrilled to be part of an expanding family-run business that’s also a member of the broader protection community.”

Growing beyond Europe

And Lurie has set his sights on continued expansion into 2024 of this family-run business.

“In 2024, we’re planning to grow and get even better,” he added.

“Our partnerships in the industry help us be flexible and grow. We always put our customers first, and we’re always thinking about how we can meet their needs.

“This makes us really excited about the future and what we’re planning to do next.

“We also see the industry moving towards greater collaboration with the NHS and welcoming more competition as we forge new relationships beyond Europe, driving innovation and development.”
