National Friendly is launching its Mortgage Friendly Shield product through Iress’s platforms.

The move will provide advisers using The Exchange and Xplan Mortgage software with access to the plan from today.

It offers a three-level structure with no medical or financial underwriting and includes access to advice from partners who specialise in legal matters and can provide information and guidance on legal mortgage-related queries.

The product includes short-term income benefit up to £2,250 per month for up to three months a remote GP service, dental support app, fracture cover, rehabilitation benefit, accidental death benefit and a natural death benefit.

Graham Singleton, chief executive of National Friendly (pictured), said by making the product available through platforms that mortgage advisers use it was easier for them to protect their clients at the right time.

“As a mutual, our purpose is to serve our members, and this partnership helps us reach more people who might otherwise go without protection,” he added.

Jacqueline Durbin, head of product – sourcing at Iress, said the firm was pleased to be working with National Friendly.

“By making this innovative protection product available within the software advisers already rely on, we’re supporting more meaningful protection conversations at the point of mortgage advice and helping advisers deliver greater value to their clients,” she said.
