Jones promoted to ActiveQuote COO post-Howden acquisition

Howden has promoted Rod Jones to chief operating officer (COO) of its new acquisition ActiveQuote.

In the wake of the deal, Howden told Health & Protection that all ActiveQuote staff were being retained as is the firm’s office in Cardiff Bay.

Rob Saunders, who has been CEO of ActiveQuote since July 2017, will remain with the business to “drive operational excellence and strategic growth”.

Jones (pictured right, speaking at the Health & Protection Health Summit 2024), who was previously head of sales and operations, will now step up as chief operating officer and work closely with Saunders.

However existing shareholders and executive directors will transition out of the business immediately to make room for new leadership, Howden added.

Howden also confirmed ActiveQuote will continue to trade under the current name while it explores how best to integrate the respective firms’ strengths.

This morning Howden announced it had acquired Help Me Compare Group Ltd (ActiveQuote) and its subsidiaries for an undisclosed sum.

It said the deal would enhance its presence in the consumer insurance sector and reflected its broader strategy to expand its employee benefits’ capability to meet growing client demand.
