Justin Harper is to leave LV= following a restructure of the mutual’s protection team.
In a statement LV= revealed the restructure will see its protection marketing & proposition and protection strategy & partnerships teams combine reporting to Toby Bainbridge. Bainbridge has over 25 years’ experience of protection and underwriting while working at leading providers including Royal London, Munich Re and Legal and General.
Meanwhile Mike Farrell, director of protection sales, takes responsibility for market facing communications while Justin Harper, who was only appointed protection proposition & marketing director a year ago, has decided to leave the business.
Harper first joined LV= back in April 2006 as head of intermediary marketing and has held of a number of marketing roles at LV= over his 16 years with the business.
Health & Protection understands Harper is currently still with the company and has not left as of yet.
Earlier this week Health & Protection reported that LV= had seen trading profits from its protection business soar by 350% year-on-year.
Clive Bolton, managing director of protection, savings & retirement, said: “The changes to our protection teams are part of our ongoing plans to transform LV=’s business to ensure we can look forward with confidence to a sustainable future for LV= as part of a vibrant mutual sector.
“Over the past two years we have improved the commercial performance of our protection business and refocused the business to protect underserved sections of the market and provide financial resilience for families when they need it most.
“I would like to thank Justin for his significant contribution to the LV protection business and his wider work in promoting the benefits that protection can provide to individuals and families. LV=’s protection business has done a huge amount of great work over the past two years and a large part of its success is down to the work of the team he led.”
