London-based private client firm Henry Dannell has appointed Katy Davies as specialist protection adviser.
Davies (pictured) joins from Hanbury Wealth where she had worked as a protection specialist since late 2021 having exchanged a career as a personal trainer to become a mortgage broker at ClearView Mortgages earlier that year.
Speaking to Health & Protection about her new role, Davies said the opportunity was “too appealing to resist”.
“My career has changed shape in the last few years, moving from being a personal trainer in a private studio in leafy Hertfordshire, to taking my mortgage broker exams in lockdown, to heading up a protection department in a wealth management firm,” Davies explained.
“I am now enjoying city life in the London-based private client firm Henry Dannell. I was offered this opportunity out of the blue, and it was too appealing to resist.
“It is a relatively young firm, set up in 2019 but with a wealth of knowledge and valuable connections, the team here are dynamic and driven and it was the perfect fit for my career.”
She said a key driver behind taking the role was the potential to grow her new London-based employer’s protection desk.
“Our client range here is diverse, and with the mortgage brokers regularly dealing with the likes of barristers, who are self-employed and have to be pretty self-reliant, my expertise can be used to help them arrange income protection specifically,” Davies continued.
“There are many milestones I am striving to achieve here, including growing out the business protection element, as well as offering group cover to supplement the employee benefits packages we offer to corporates.
“The sky is the limit and that is what excites me most about my new appointment.”
