Kevin Melton has joined International Medical Group (IMG) as global head of international private medical insurance (IPMI) with the provider looking to expand its market reach.
Melton left Axa Global where he spent more than 15 years as global head of sales and marketing to take up the position, which he will start on 1 September.
IMG is also creating a global product portfolio as part of its one brand initiative which Melton will oversee.
As a result, IMG has closed its Steyning office and moved staff into the Cardiff and Redhill locations, with Melton based at the latter.
Melton will be responsible for overseeing and expanding IMG’s existing IPMI segment including individual, family, SME and larger corporate coverage for those based in North America, the UK, EU and rest of the world.
He has more than 30 years in the PMI industry, including time in the UK domestic market with Cigna Healthcare and Standard Life Healthcare, before nearly nine years as head of international sales for Allianz Worldwide Care.
After Allianz, Melton had two years at Vanbreda International as deputy director of market development, before moving to Axa.
Writing on Linkedin, Melton said he was delighted to be starting at the insurer.
“IMG have ambitious growth plans and are really looking to expand their footprint in the market – I am therefore joining IMG at a very exciting time,” he said.
“With our flexibility, extensive product range and desire to explore new opportunities I am really looking forward to some exciting times ahead.”
IMG chief commercial officer Amanda Winkle added: “We are thrilled to welcome Kevin to the team.
“Kevin’s industry experience and expertise are an excellent match for our company. With Kevin at the helm of our already successful IPMI business segment, we are in prime position to continue to grow IMG’s market share and revenue.”
Earlier this month, IMG promoted Steve Paraboschi to chief executive officer, succeeding Brian Barwick, who is staying on as an executive adviser.
