The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has appointed Jane Kielty as its deputy chairwoman.
Kielty is head of commercial risk UK of Aon and will take on the role on New Year’s Day.
She has been on the board since becoming chairwoman of BIBA’s Insurance Brokers’ Standards Committee in 2020 and replaces Yutree director Laura Hancock who has been a BIBA board member since 2017 and its deputy chairwoman since 2019.
The main board of BIBA is largely formed of members who serve for a maximum term of six years and simultaneously as chairperson of one of the association’s advisory boards.
The trade body said Kielty was a great advocate of careers in broking and is a former BIBA Young Broker of the Year.
“She has led the standards committee with great enthusiasm and purpose during a period of incredible change and is determined to help BIBA support its members regardless of their size or sector,” it added.
Kielty said she was honoured to be asked to take up the position.
“I am as passionate as I ever was about insurance broking, and I hope in my new role I can continue to make a difference to BIBA members. Laura is a tough act to follow but I am looking forward to the challenge,” she added.
BIBA chief executive Steve White said Kielty brought an enormous amount of experience to the table.
“Laura has made a fantastic contribution in her five years on the board and I am most grateful to her for all her support. This is farewell not goodbye as she will continue to work closely with us as one of our member scheme providers.”
