Official data shows 380,000 people have been suffering symptoms associated with long Covid for a least a year.
The latest Office for Nationals Statistics data covering the period to 4 July 2021 also found 835,000 people saying they had Covid for at least 12 weeks.
And 945,000 people had experienced long Covid symptoms for more than four weeks.
When it comes to the impact on sufferers’ day-to-day activities, 610,000 had experienced some limitations, while 182,000 said these activities had been “limited a lot”.
Fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle ache and loss of smell were the most common symptoms reported.
According to the data, long Covid was most common among people aged between 35 and 69, women, people living in deprived areas, health and social care workers and those with other activity limiting health conditions or disabilities.
